MCCASKILL GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Over $1.3 Million in Grant Funding Coming to Farmington Regional Airport

June 10, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill announced today that the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) is providing the Farmington Regional Airport with $1,347,314 in federal grant dollars. The money is being provided through the DOT’s Missouri State Block Grant Program.

According to DOT, the money is being provided through the non-primary development project, a part of the Missouri State Block Grant Program and will be used to extend the taxiway.

McCaskill believes that federal grants and loans are a positive alternative to earmarks, which in the past have frequently had too little accountability. Competitive merit and need based federal grants and low-interest government loans bring federal assistance to Missouri in an honest and fiscally responsible manner.
