Missouri Housing Agency Receives Green Award from City of Pacific, MO
March 3, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The city of Pacific, Missouri, in presenting its inaugural Green Awards, honored Patrick Warner of Arapaho Development for “exemplary use of sustainable technology for the conservation of energy and natural resources” in the construction of Millstone Village, Phases I and II, an affordable housing development for seniors in Pacific.
Also honored was Missouri Housing Development Commission for providing tax credit financing for the project, and Keeven Heating and Cooling for its use of geo-thermal technology in the air-conditioning and heating systems for the developments.
Harold Selby, Pacific’s City Administrator, thanked Warner, MHDC and Keeven for investing the extra funds in these developments for the benefit of the residents, low- to moderate-income seniors. The combined cost for all utilities in each of the developments’ units averages approximately $40 per month.
Selby also noted his hope that the award will act as a positive reminder to all that the approval and construction of green projects around the state can have significant cost advantages as well as environmental benefits.
Missouri Housing Development Commission provides financing for the construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing in Missouri, as well as the administration of low-interest mortgage loan programs available to qualified first-time homebuyers. MHDC also administers the Missouri Housing Trust Fund to help prevent homelessness and to provide emergency housing assistance for very low-income Missourians.
