State Treasurer Zweifel says claims up 53 percent over 2010 State Fair

SEDALIA, MO – August 23, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The 2011 Missouri State Fair ended Sunday, and State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) said 426 people went home knowing they will be receiving extra cash. During the course of the fair, $87,157 worth of Unclaimed Property was found, a 53 percent increase over the 2010 State Fair. The single largest claim was $5,355.

“Claim totals were up 53 percent largely because more Missourians than ever before are aware of what Unclaimed Property is and are claiming what is theirs,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “The State Fair is a great way to build awareness. Returning almost $90,000 is a good number, and keeps us on pace to break records. Plus, folks have some extra cash for back-to-school time.”

Anyone can search for Unclaimed Property anytime at www.ShowMeMoney.com. Missourians can also sign-up to receive email notifications when new Unclaimed Property matching their information is added.
