HOPE NOW Assists Homeowners at Kansas City Black Expo
Mortgage Servicers, Non-Profit Counselors and Others Offer Education and Assistance for Struggling Families
KANSAS CITY, MO – September 20, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — HOPE NOW, the voluntary, private sector alliance of mortgage servicers, investors, mortgage insurers and non-profit counselors, articipated in the Kansas City Black Expo this past weekend as part of its ongoing effort to assist the nation’s homeowners..
HOPE NOW was invited by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to participate. The organization brought mortgage servicers, including Bank of America, Chase, Citi Mortgage, Wells Fargo and GMAC, to the event in order to offer education to families in the area and help them find alternatives to foreclosure.
Several homeowners from the Kansas City area took advantage of the free sessions that were offered during an event that drew thousands of families downtown to Bartle Hall over the weekend.
The Kansas City Black Expo was one of eleven events that HOPE NOW has participated in so far this year that have been attended by almost 9,500 homeowners across the country. HOPE NOW will be sponsoring upcoming events in Whippany, New Jersey (September 26th), Secaucus, New Jersey (September 27th), Oceanside, California (October 20th), Houston, Texas (November 4th) and Portland, Oregon (December TBD).
“We are very pleased to have been able to partner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City for this event. They have been an excellent partner over the years and have supported our efforts to reach out to families struggling with their mortgages.
We understand the challenges posed by loss of income, medical hardship and other adverse economic factors facing homeowners. HOPE NOW will continue to work closely with our industry, non-profit and government partners to assist as many families as possible in finding sustainable alternatives to foreclosure,” said Faith Schwartz, Executive Director of HOPE NOW.
HOPE NOW is the industry-created alliance of mortgage servicers, investors, counselors, and other mortgage market participants, brought together by the Financial Services Roundtable, Housing Policy Council and Mortgage Bankers Association, that has developed and is implementing a coordinated plan to help as many homeowners as possible prevent foreclosure and stay in their homes.
