University of Missouri Office for Financial Success will Upgrade Facilities to Provide Best Experience for Students
Columbia, MO – September 21, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — During this period of economic depression, college students from all over the country are under pressure to be able to pay for their educational expenses, as they balance their checkbooks. The U.S. Department of Education has already released a new number for its national student loan from 7 to 8.8% in the last 3 years. This new rate also signifies that the median debt of a college student is over $23,000. University of Missouri addresses this issue for the University of Missouri student through the OFS or Office for Financial Success, situated within the College of Human Environmental Sciences. The OFS has just received a donation worth $10,000 from State Farm Insurance, which will assist the office for its facility upgrade that will provide the best experience and advice for the university students.
OFS is staffed with volunteer students who are taking personal financial planning at University of Missouri and offers free financial counseling for university students. The knowledgeable volunteer student offers advice about student loans, counseling about credit card debts, and other vital financial services to every University of Missouri students. The donation will be used to help OFS transfer from their office in the basement of Stanley Hall of University of Missouri to a more convenient and accessible office on the 1st floor of the building.
Overall, the students will greatly benefit from this upgrade. It will increase the visibility of the OFS that will encourage more university students to find and make use of these services, including volunteer income tax assistance and financial counseling.
Other than the free financial services that OFS provides for the University of Missouri students, OFS also offers cut-rate financial counseling for the community too.
