WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Unbound, the largest nonprofit organization in Kansas, welcomes John Dougherty as director of information systems.

Dougherty will be responsible for ensuring all technology needs for Unbound are met in an efficient and secure manner. He’ll also be in charge of establishing the systems support necessary for both the network infrastructure and the application software for the sponsorship and donor system.

“Working for an organization like Unbound with a global outreach and such an important mission gives me a great sense of purpose,” said Dougherty. “I feel extremely blessed and honored to take on this new position. Having grown up in K.C., I am also very excited about returning to my hometown.” Dougherty comes to Unbound with nearly 30 years of experience in the technology industry. Most recently, he worked as chief information officer for Integrity Home Care and Hospice in Springfield, Mo. There, he oversaw all areas of technology for the nine branch locations and the IT help desk. This background has helped Dougherty make an easy transition into his position with Unbound. “Unbound is already a technology leader in the world of charitable organizations,” said Dougherty. “I hope to make significant contributions in helping Unbound further achieve its noble mission by leveraging technological advances through my leadership and technology skills.”

The outgoing director of information systems, Catherine Quiroga, who will remain with Unbound as a senior systems analyst and .net developer, is confident Dougherty will be carving the technology path for Unbound’s future.

“The combination of John’s technical background and strong values and beliefs are a perfect match for this position, and I know we will benefit by having him as an integral member of the Unbound family.”

In addition to his prior management role, Dougherty has extensive experience in project management, deploying vendor software and website design. Before working for IHC, Dougherty was an independent computer consultant who developed custom software for various industries such as health care, insurance, trucking, food service, and delivery and manufacturing.

Dougherty received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology from Missouri State University in Springfield.

Unbound is the largest nonprofit organization in Kansas with more than $120 million in annual revenue. Unbound works side by side with people of diverse faiths in 20 countries, bringing people together to challenge poverty in new and innovative ways.

Unbound distributes direct aid as quickly and efficiently as possible to people who need it. 92.5 percent of Unbound’s expenses go toward program support.
