Permits and Builder Confidence Increasing

The number of residential permits continues to increase along with builder sentiment, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report. The National Association of Home Builders reported that builder confidence has risen to the highest level since October 2005. Local builders are increasingly active as 425 permits for new single family residences were issued during August, an increase of 27 from the prior month and 73 more permits than in August of 2014.

Residential Construction Activity Holding Steady

In cities across the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area, housing production during 2015 continues to experience slow but steady growth, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report. July activity totaled 398 single family permits—a slight decrease from June’s total but 23 more than in July 2014. Year to date total single family permits of 2546 are the highest since 2007 but just slightly higher than 2014’s year to date report of 2428.
