FORSYTH – January 31, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) today announced that Taney County has been approved for a $976,329 grant under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The grant will be used to acquire nine properties in Taney County that received significant flood damage during 2011. CDBG funds will assist with flood buyout and demolition to eliminate future development in the floodplain. Funding for this project came from the state’s annual CDBG allocation, in which $10 million was dedicated for statewide flood recovery projects.

The CDBG program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development provides grants and loan funds to cities with a population under 50,000 and counties under 200,000 to assist in a variety of public works and economic development projects.
