WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Single family housing permits issued during January 2015 decreased from recent months according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City’s (HBA) monthly Residential Building Permit Statistics report.  With 235 single family units, the January total decreased by 48 (17%) from the same month a year ago (January 2014) and 88 from December 2014.  Multi-family activity continues its growth pattern with 214 units permitted in January.

“Builders are reporting that the confidence level of themselves and their realtors has never been higher,” said HBA Executive Vice President Sara Corless, “and after the snow and cold weather retreat, spring will bring the most active housing market in years to the Kansas City area.”

Kansas City issued the most permits in the eight county area with 46 during January, followed by Olathe with 40.  Overland Park, Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit rounded out the top five municipalities in residential permit counts.  Johnson County was the top permitting county with 92, followed by Clay County with 52 and Jackson with 51.
