MARKSNELSON MEMBER APPOINTED TO AUDIT COMMITTEE BY NATIONAL COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE NETWORK

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – January 12, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Kansas City accounting firm MarksNelson LLC is pleased to announce that Member Christine Johnston, CPA, CMA, CGMA, will serve a one-year term on the 2016 Audit Committee for the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network. CREW Network is an industry-leading business networking organization dedicated to advancing achievements of women in commercial real estate.

Johnston will bring a variety of experience to the committee. At MarksNelson, she focuses her expertise in the real estate industry, specializing in historic rehabilitation projects, affordable housing, cost certifications and audit services and consulting. As an Audit Committee Member, Johnston will work with the board to serve CREW Network’s 9,000-plus members across more than 70 major markets in North America.

Johnston became a Member at MarksNelson when the firm merged with Marsh & Company accounting firm. She has more than 25 years of experience in the public accounting industry, and formerly led Marsh & Company’s audit practice.

Johnston received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business and Accounting before earning her Master’s of Accountancy from Kansas State University. She is active in the Kansas City community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, CREW KC Board and as Board President for the Kansas Preservation Alliance. Johnston is involved the Kansas Housing Association as Committee Chair, the CREW Network’s Audit Committee and Grace United Ministries Restoration Crew. She is a member of the Missouri Workforce Housing Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Kansas Society of Public Accountants (KSCPA) and Institute of Management Accountants, to name a few.
