McCaskill to Host Free Economic Development Workshop in Columbia, Experts Will Provide Organizations with Training on How to Apply for Federal Grant funding

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 20, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — In the midst of the worst economic crisis this country has seen in decades, many small businesses, local governments, and non-profit organizations are looking for help from the federal government. On April 9th, the office of U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will host an Economic Development and Grant Training Workshop to provide resources and useful tools to organizations to help them access federal grant and loan programs which support public infrastructure, job growth, business development and other needs.

Visit McCaskill’s website to register and get additional information about the Economic Development and Grant Training Workshop.

Competitive federal grants and low-interest government loans bring federal assistance to Missouri in an honest and fiscally responsible manner. McCaskill’s workshop will help provide the resources Missouri’s organizations need to apply for these federal dollars.

McCaskill believes helping organizations learn how to access federal dollars through competitive grant and loan programs is an important step in ensuring Missouri’s economic development and keeping the awarding of federal dollars transparent.

Representatives from the federal agencies will aim to provide information and resources to small businesses, local governments, chambers of commerce, and non-profit organizations on how they access these federal dollars. Presenters will include representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development program, USDA Farm Services program, Small Business Administration (SBA), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Economic Development Administration (EDA), Department of Commerce Trade Adjustment Assistance Center, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, State of Missouri Economic Stimulus Team, Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers.

This event is open to the public and members of the press.
