Turner Shapes the Skyline and Community for Two Decades

Kansas City, MO – April 07, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — This year, Turner Construction Company commemorates the firm’s 20th anniversary of building in Kansas City. From an original staff of six, the office now has more than 100 full-time employees working to shape the skyline and community and is one of the largest construction firms in Kansas City serving the four-state region of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.

Turner’s Kansas City office completed $213 million of construction in 2008 and currently has the highest level of work underway since the office was established. Currently, Turner is constructing a $40 million renovation of the University of Kansas Allen Fieldhouse, $22 million of renovation work for the Olathe School District and the new $16 million Odessa Elementary School.

Turner has constructed some of the most significant projects in the region, including:

The Turner School of Construction Management training program was developed and is facilitated by Turner employees to provide women, minority and other small-business owners to expand their economic opportunities in the marketplace.

In 2008, Turner also awarded $12,000 in scholarships to ACE Mentor students in the Kansas City chapter. The ACE Mentor program serves to increase the awareness of high school students to career opportunities in architecture, construction and engineering fields through mentoring and scholarship opportunities

In addition, Turner has raised more than $150,000 for research and programs for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in the past four years through the company’s Turner Invitational Golf Tournament.

“I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead Turner’s Kansas City office at this point in our history. We are able to achieve our goals by serving our clients and remaining faithful to our core values of teamwork, integrity and commitment first set forth by our founder Henry C.
