Blunt Announces $97,958 Community Development Block Grant for Village of Bethel

-

BETHEL, MO – December 26, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that the village of Bethel has been approved for a $97,958 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) by the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED). The grant will be utilized for a wastewater system improvement project.

New discharge limitations are forcing the village of Bethel to seek improvements to its wastewater system. With this project, the village will retain its existing single-cell lagoon, which will be used as a storage cell, and convert the existing wetland into a second storage unit. From the second storage pond, the effluent will be pumped through underground piping into sprinkler heads, located throughout the land application field.

The CDBG program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides grants and loan funds to cities with a population under 50,000 and counties under 200,000 to assist in a variety of public works and economic development projects.
