BROOKFIELD – February 09, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today it has approved Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) designation for Brookfield and a part of Linn County. This designation will allow Brookfield and Linn County officials to continue to move forward with economic development efforts.

“During these tough economic times we must do everything we can to support economic development and help to create jobs,” DED director-designee Linda Martínez said. “I am pleased we are able to help the city of Brookfield and the surrounding area to utilize this important program to support its economic development initiatives.”

The Enhanced Enterprise Zone program was implemented in 2004. Enhanced enterprise zones are specified geographic areas designated by local governments and certified by the Department of Economic Development. Zone designation is based on certain demographic criteria, the potential to create sustainable jobs in a targeted industry and a demonstrated impact on local cluster development.
