Three accounts worth more than $100,000 returned in 60 days

ST. LOUIS, MO – December 21, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) announced today he has returned $139,000 and $122,000 in Unclaimed Property, respectively, to two individuals in the St. Louis area. As always, when done directly with Treasurer Zweifel, the Unclaimed Property return was made free of charge.

“My team returned three accounts over $100,000 in a two month time period – a tremendous amount of money for two individuals and one company,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “Big accounts still remain, and one in 10 Missourians has Unclaimed Property. This means almost everyone is going to have Unclaimed Property or is going to know someone with Unclaimed Property – they should go to www.ShowMeMoney.com to search and claim it.”

The $139,000 return to a Missouri resident was a single matured certificate of deposit and accumulated interest. While the $122,000 return to an Illinois resident was comprised of two certificates of deposit and the accumulated interest.

In November, Treasurer Zweifel also announced a Top 50 Missouri employer had received $370,000.

“This time of year it is especially important to me that we return Missourians’ money to them. This is money that can be used for the holidays, winter utility bills, holiday travel or whatever else they want,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “My staff works hard to find the owners of property and Missourians can check for themselves online at www.ShowMeMoney.com 24 hours a day. Today’s returns are just two out of the thousands of owners to get their property back this holiday season.”

Treasurer Zweifel returned a record $35 million in Unclaimed Property to a record 92,000 owners in fiscal year 2010. There remain 35 accounts worth more than $100,000 each to be returned from Unclaimed Property. Of those 35 accounts, the geographic breakdown is: 17 in St. Louis County; 10 in Jackson County; three in St. Louis City; two in Boone County; and one each in Camden, Cole and Franklin counties.

About 60 percent of Unclaimed Property claims are eligible for 100 percent paperless processing and wait times have been cut in half. Individuals may also sign-up for e-mail notifications and can track a submitted claim at www.ShowMeMoney.com.

The following is an overview of the total dollar amounts and total accounts with Unclaimed Property found in each region of Missouri:
