Rolla MO Agent’s Rape Prompts National, MO-Based Real Estate Safety Expert To Speak Out

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 22, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Country’s leading real estate agent safety trainer lives in Kansas City, MO. According to Tracey Hawkins, a former agent who has spent over 20 years traveling the country teaching real estate agents how to work safely, the rape of the agent in Rolla, MO, has hit close to home. Rolla is 3.5 hours from KC. She says the recent spate of crimes against agents nationally, proves that a key component is missing in agent training. This week in Florida there was a real estate agent whose valuables were stolen from her car as she worked, that was on the heels of two agents held there at gunpoint an hour apart, a real estate agent alleging rape in California and other recent crimes against agents.

Hawkins taught safety to more than 1,100 agents in North Dakota in May and is in Oklahoma now teaching two safety classes to almost 100 agents. Her schedule across the country is filling in, more so when crimes against agents make news headlines.

“There is a lack of quality safe work practices training for real estate agents. You have to start with the basics and offer realistic solutions that don’t interfere with them being able to earn a living. Safety training for agents is typically hit or miss, or not done at all. Then there are also too many people who think just anyone can teach real estate safety. It is not that easy. Expertise is required in a field this serious.” Hawkins created the country’s only real estate safety designation education program. It consists of 2, 3-hour continuing education classes that she created, that teaches agents not only how to work safely, but also how to educate clients; sellers, buyers and even For Sale By Owners, how to maneuver the real estate process more safely. Her classes are approved in 8-10 States.

Hawkins states that after the murder of Beverly Carter, the real estate agent from Arkansas during the last week of Real Estate Safety Month September of 2015, everyone is suddenly a safety expert. She sites the martial arts classes labeled as real estate safety classes and concealed weapons classes.

“These classes are great as part of a complete program that teaches agents how to work safely, day-to-day.” Her fear is that they are being offered as solutions and the only training agents get. ” According to Hawkins, agents have to learn how to:

Show safely
Screen safely
Host safe open houses
Utilize social media safely
Use, learn and share online safety resources with clients
Be well-versed in safety product choices
…and more. She says agent safety must become a priority for all involved.

Hawkins has taught safety (and agents) in California, Arkansas, Nevada, Missouri, Kansas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Minnesota, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc. She has classes pending in other States.

Hawkins’ twin sister (who obtained her real estate license at the same time over 26 years ago) has invited her to speak in her office for agents in Kansas City, MO on June 25th. “With the national safety expert living here in Kansas City, we wanted to take advantage of her knowledge and expertise. We haven’t had training locally for a while.”
